About Anamarina Avilés
Anamarina Avilés is a painter with thirty-seven years of work behind her: seven solo exhibitions and more than a hundred group shows across Central America and the United States. She has worked in painting, sculpture, printmaking and engraving; today she paints in acrylic, oil and watercolour, and mixes techniques in some pieces, including figures cut from wood.
Her subject is the stories of women and girls with sweet, nostalgic gazes, surrounded by organic detail. Nature is always in the picture: leaves, flowers, butterflies, birds. She wants each work to carry a spiritual charge of hope and to give off, in strong colour, a positive energy. The aim is to make spaces that feel encouraging, with faith in the future.
Her first solo show was at Galería de Arte Saravia in San Salvador in 1995. Since then she has shown at Museo Forma, the Centro Cultural de España, DIVA Art Gallery and the MARTE art competition in El Salvador, and in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and the United States, including the Mint Museum in Charlotte.

Hugo Martínez Acuña
VerifiedHugo Martínez Acuña is a Salvadoran visual artist and painter based in San Salvador, whose vivid, densely woven canvases turn the tropical world of El Salvador into teeming gardens of birds, flowers, and butterflies. A former Fulbright scholar (1988–1991), he holds a Master of Art in Digital Design and Illustration from San Diego State University, and trained in drawing and painting at the Art Student League of New York and in illustration in San Diego. Alongside his studio practice he has been a leading figure in Salvadoran design education — directing the School of Design at Universidad Don Bosco and coordinating the Graphic Arts area at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas of Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado. For Martínez Acuña, painting is a personal and subjective act — an attempt to bridge the present with images built in the past, drawn to places and events that carry a special energy. He understands art as critical thought clothed in human, social, and historical values: work meant to make the viewer think, not merely to decorate. His paintings have been exhibited across El Salvador and internationally — in the United States, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Spain, Argentina, and Canada — and he continues to create from his studio in San Salvador.
Moisés Ramos
VerifiedMoisés Ramos is a Salvadoran painter born on April 6, 1978, who has devoted himself to easel painting since 1998. Over more than two decades of steady studio practice he has taken part in numerous collective art exhibitions across El Salvador, sharing walls with fellow Salvadoran artists and building a body of work rooted in the country’s art scene. Working from San Salvador, Ramos continues to paint and exhibit, and shares glimpses of his work and process on TikTok (@josemoise_1978).
