Pedro Ramirez - Community Health Worker

Pedro Ramirez is a Community Health Worker based at REACH Community Centre on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, dedicated to helping immigrants in their struggle with the social determinants of health. He supports newcomers in navigating health and other social service institutions — understanding how the system works, connecting with the right services, and getting the care and support they are entitled to — so they can better integrate into Canadian society.

For many immigrants, the biggest barriers to good health are not medical: language, paperwork, unfamiliar institutions, housing, income, and isolation all shape wellbeing. Pedro works alongside newcomers at exactly that intersection, acting as a bridge between them and the Canadian health and social service systems.
